Educational Therapy Services

What Makes Educational Therapy “Therapy-Based”?

Overview

Educational Therapy is considered therapy-based because it addresses how learning happens, not just what content is taught. Unlike traditional tutoring, which often focuses on assignments or short-term skill practice, Educational Therapy uses intentional, research-based methods to support the underlying learning processes that impact academic performance.

Sessions are individualized, responsive, and ongoing. Instruction is adjusted over time based on how the learner responds, similar to therapeutic models of support—while remaining firmly educational in scope.

Educational Therapy integrates:

  • Language-based instruction

  • Developmentally responsive teaching

  • Strategy instruction for learning and executive functioning

  • Skill generalization across settings (school, home, work)

  • Ongoing progress monitoring and instructional adjustment

The goal is not quick fixes, but lasting skill development, independence, and confidence.

Important Clarification

Educational Therapy is not clinical therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment.
It does not involve diagnosis, psychotherapy, or treatment of emotional or behavioral disorders. Educational Therapy is an instructional service focused on learning, language, and academic functioning.

Families seeking diagnostic evaluations or clinical services should visit our Educational Evaluations page or consult a licensed medical provider.

Educational Therapy is therapy-based because it supports the underlying learning processes through individualized, structured, and responsive instruction—rather than focusing solely on assignments or short-term tutoring.

EARLY CHILDHOOD Pre-K (3-5 yrs Old)

Educational Therapy for early childhood supports young learners through language-based, developmentally responsive, and play-informed instruction. Services focus on early language development, foundational learning skills, regulation, and confidence during the critical preschool years.

Sessions are individualized and designed around how young children naturally learn—through play, movement, communication, and guided interaction. Educational Therapy at this stage supports early literacy foundations, expressive and receptive language, attention, and readiness for formal schooling.

This service is appropriate for preschool-aged children who benefit from intentional, supportive learning experiences that strengthen development while honoring each child’s pace and learning profile.

SCHOOL-AGE STUDENTS  (Grades K–12)

Educational Therapy for school-age students provides intensive, individualized academic and learning support for children and adolescents whose needs extend beyond traditional tutoring. This service is designed for students who experience persistent learning challenges, learning differences, or difficulty accessing the curriculum without structured, ongoing support.

Educational Therapy addresses both academic skill development and the underlying learning processes that impact performance, including language processing, executive functioning, attention, and learning strategies. Instruction is responsive, data-informed, and adjusted over time based on student progress.

This service is appropriate for K–12 students with dyslexia, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, learning disabilities, or complex learning profiles who benefit from coordinated, long-term educational support across subjects.

ADOLESCENTS & ADULTS

Educational Therapy for adolescents and adults provides individualized, educationally therapeutic support focused on learning processes, executive functioning, and self-understanding. Services support academic, professional, and life-based learning needs for individuals who continue to experience learning challenges beyond childhood.

Sessions focus on how individuals learn, organize information, manage demands, and apply strategies across environments. Support may include executive functioning systems, language-based learning strategies, academic planning, and skill integration that promotes independence and confidence.

This service is appropriate for individuals seeking structured, sustained educational support without engaging in clinical therapy or diagnostic services.
