Our Modern K-5
One-Room Schoolhouse
Our K–5 Hybrid Homeschool Academy reimagines the one-room schoolhouse for today’s learners. In our small, mixed-age community, students learn together while receiving instruction matched to their individual readiness and needs.
With flexible grouping and a maximum of just 12 students, children have opportunities to collaborate, build confidence, develop leadership, and learn from one another—all while being truly known, supported, and challenged.

Our CURRICULUM
Our K–5 curriculum provides a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies while giving students opportunities to explore, create, and apply what they learn. Instruction is standards-aligned, research-based, and adapted to each learner’s readiness.
Students learn through explicit instruction, small groups, hands-on experiences, meaningful practice, and real-world projects—with enrichment and support built into the school day.
The Hayes Method™
A Framework for Personalized, Purposeful Learning
The Hayes Method™ is the foundation for how we teach and support students at DHEAI. It combines personalized instruction, hands-on learning, executive functioning skills, and opportunities for students to think, create, collaborate, and reflect.
Simply put, we want students to do more than learn academic content. We want them to understand how they learn, build confidence and independence, solve problems, and use what they learn in meaningful ways.
Our goal is to develop confident learners, creative problem-solvers, compassionate leaders, and lifelong learners.

Teaching the Child,
Not the Grade Level
At DHEAI, we recognize that children learn and grow at different rates. Instead of teaching students based only on their grade level, we use readiness, ongoing assessment, and teacher observation to determine what each child needs next.
Students move between flexible learning groups as their skills develop, allowing us to provide the right balance of support, challenge, and enrichment. Our mixed-age environment also encourages collaboration, confidence, and leadership.
We don’t just ask, “What grade is this child in?” We ask, “What does this child need to grow?”
Inside a DHEAI Classroom
More Than a Classroom—A Learning Community
At Dr. Hayes Educates Academy of Innovation, learning is active, engaging, and intentionally designed to meet the needs of every student. Rather than spending the day listening to lectures or completing worksheets, students participate in a balanced instructional model that combines direct teaching, collaborative learning, independent practice, and authentic learning experiences.
Every school day is thoughtfully structured to provide consistency while allowing flexibility for personalized instruction, small-group learning, and meaningful exploration.
Our classrooms are built around routines that foster confidence, independence, creativity, and a genuine love of learning.

Guided Home Learning
Guided Home Learning keeps students learning on the days they are not on campus. Teachers provide clear lessons and activities connected to what students are learning in class, so families are not left trying to figure out what to teach.
Students may complete reading, writing, math practice, hands-on activities, projects, or online learning. Parents support and encourage, but they are not expected to teach new lessons or create assignments.
The goal is meaningful practice—not hours of busywork—while helping students build independence, responsibility, and confidence at home.
Innovation Through
Authentic Learning
At DHEAI, we believe students learn best when they can explore, create, ask questions, and apply what they are learning in meaningful ways. Along with strong academic instruction, students participate in hands-on projects, investigations, design challenges, community connections, and real-world learning experiences.
Innovation is not limited to one class or subject. It is woven throughout the learning experience, giving students opportunities to solve problems, work together, think creatively, and make connections across subjects. These experiences help students understand why their learning matters while building confidence, curiosity, independence, and critical-thinking skills.

Student Growth & Assesment
At DHEAI, assessment is part of everyday learning—not just a test at the end. We use a combination of teacher observations, conversations, hands-on activities, one-on-one assessments, student work, and formal and informal assessments throughout the year to understand each child’s progress.
This information helps us adjust instruction, provide support or additional challenge, and determine what each student is ready to learn next. Families stay informed through mid-semester check-ins, trimester P.A.N.E.™ Reviews, conferences, and ongoing communication about their child’s growth and next steps.
Partnering with Families
Better Together.
At Dr. Hayes Educates Academy of Innovation, we believe the strongest educational outcomes are achieved when schools and families work together. Parents are a child's first and most influential teachers, and we value the trust families place in us as partners in their child's educational journey.
Our goal is to build meaningful relationships through open communication, shared expectations, and ongoing collaboration. We believe families deserve to understand how their child is growing academically, socially, and personally while feeling informed, encouraged, and supported every step of the way.
