What Is a Tennessee Homeschool Umbrella?

A Tennessee Homeschool Umbrella allows families to homeschool while their child is officially enrolled through a non-public school. As a Category IV Umbrella School, DHEAI handles enrollment, required records, and homeschool compliance while parents remain responsible for their child’s education.

As a Parent, You:

  • Choose curriculum and resources

  • Provide instruction

  • Set your homeschool schedule

  • Monitor academic progress

  • Direct your child’s learning

As Your Umbrella School, We:

  • Officially enroll your student

  • Maintain required student records

  • Provide enrollment verification

  • Support Tennessee homeschool compliance

  • Collect required attendance and year-end records

You lead the learning. We handle the umbrella requirements.
