OUR SMALL-GROUP LEARNING MODEL

Inside Our Modern Schoolhouse

Hayes Academy of Innovation operates as a modern one-room schoolhouse, where students learn in a collaborative multi-age environment designed to support curiosity, mastery, and real-world learning.

Rather than separating students into rigid grade-level classrooms, scholars are organized into three learning bands that allow instruction to be differentiated while still building a strong community of learners.

Hayes Academy of Innovation is intentionally designed around small-group instruction rather than traditional grade-level classrooms. This approach allows for targeted support, meaningful peer interaction, and instruction aligned to how students actually learn—not just their age or grade level.

Student groupings are flexible and continuously adjusted based on academic needs, developmental readiness, and learning pace.

Why this works

  • Explains your model clearly

  • Supports your K–5 schoolhouse structure

  • Justifies mixed-age learning

  • Sounds intentional, not improvised
