Kids Can Bake- Baking Camp (Half-Day, K–5) June 8-10

A 3-day, half-day baking class where students create real desserts while building essential reading and math skills through hands-on learning.

Students will mix, measure, bake, decorate, and present their own baked goods while learning how to follow directions, understand quantities, and apply skills in a real-world setting.

Each day focuses on a different part of baking:

  • Day 1: Cookies – mixing, measuring, and baking chocolate chip cookies

  • Day 2: Cupcakes – preparing batter, baking, frosting, and decorating

  • Day 3: Bakery Creations – brownies and layered dessert cups with a final “bakery-style” presentation

All recipes are modeled and guided step-by-step, so no prior experience or reading level is required. Students are supported at their level and actively engaged throughout the entire session.

  • Interpreting simple baking instructions

  • Building vocabulary through hands-on experience

  • Measuring ingredients (cups, spoons)

  • Understanding quantity and portions

  • Comparing amounts and adjusting mixtures

  • Applying basic math through real cooking tasks

  • Bake real desserts each day

  • Use kitchen tools and equipment

  • Mix, measure, and prepare ingredients

  • Decorate and customize their creations

  • Plate and present finished desserts

  • Build confidence and independence in the kitchen

  • All baking is guided and supervised

  • Students work in small groups and rotate through stations

  • Recipes are adapted for all learners

Students stay engaged, build real-life skills, and leave each day with something they created—while strengthening reading and math skills in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
